Volunteers are at the heart of everything we do. Their dedication, compassion and commitment enable DAVSS to support people affected by domestic abuse across West Kent and make a lasting difference in the lives of survivors and their families.

Since 2011, DAVSS has supported more than 20,000 individuals, and our volunteers have played a vital role in helping us achieve this. We are incredibly grateful for the time, skills and experience that volunteers bring to our organisation.

Volunteering with DAVSS is a rewarding opportunity to contribute to your local community while developing new skills, building confidence and gaining valuable experience within a supportive and professional environment. Whether you have specialist skills to offer or simply want to make a difference, we welcome enquiries from people with a wide range of backgrounds and experiences.

Safer Recruitment and DBS Checks

As a charity supporting individuals affected by domestic abuse, we take our recruitment and safeguarding responsibilities seriously.

All volunteers are required to:

• Complete a volunteer application form.
• Attend an interview with a Safer Recruitment accredited member of the DAVSS team.
• Provide two satisfactory references.
• Complete an Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service)
• Read and agree to relevant DAVSS policies and procedures, including our Code of Conduct.

Successful applicants will receive an induction and will be required to complete mandatory training relevant to their role. Some volunteer positions may also involve additional training, shadowing opportunities or a structured volunteer development pathway.

DAVSS is committed to protecting the health, wellbeing and human rights of all those we support and enabling them to live free from harm, abuse and neglect. We expect all volunteers to uphold professional standards of behaviour and to carry out their role in accordance with DAVSS safeguarding policies, procedures and values.
