Non-fatal strangulation to become a specific criminal offence.

Some good news in this BBC report. Campaigners have been calling for the change in the law with regard to non-fatal strangulation, arguing that perpetrators are often only charged with common assault, meaning up to six months in jail. The government had initially said it had no plans to change the law but now, ministers plan to make non-fatal strangulation a specific criminal offence in the Domestic Abuse Bill.
