DAY 9. Parental Abuse

Adolescent (or child of any age) to parent domestic abuse (CPA) can be understood as a harmful act which is designed to gain power and control over a parent. The abuse can by physical, psychological, or financial.  Shockingly,  child-to-parent violence (CPV) is increasing. In the UK in June this year, police figures revealed a 30 per cent rise in reported domestic violence offences by sons on their parents since 2010, to 5,294 last year, while of violence from daughters has doubled to 1,598.  Like other forms of domestic abuse, it often remains hidden and unacknowledged because of the shame and fear of what could happen it it’s reported.
